Presented by Women Who Code Portland Panelists: Sara Wachter-Boettcher, Daelynn Moyer, and Neville Poole, Moderated by Kailyn Nelson Topic: Being Courageous in Tech
Courage is not just about being a loud voice.
Sara Wachter-Boettcher is a leadership coach, author, and strategist dedicated to changing design and tech for good. She’s the founder of Active Voice, a coaching and training company helping courageous leaders build healthy teams and sustainable careers that are true to their values—no burnout required. Sara built her career in content strategy and UX, and has written widely on tech and design. Her most recent book, Technically Wrong, was named one of the best tech books of the year by Wired.
Daelynn Moyer is a Software Engineering Manager at Fast Radius. Prior to moving into a leadership role several years ago, she was a 20-year software engineer, building systems in support of transportation and heavy manufacturing. She's built a network of electric vehicle charging stations, flight deck software for commercial jets, programming tools for heavy trucks, and control interfaces for electron microscopes. She leans heavily on that background as she builds and guides high-performing engineering teams from a place of empathy, trust, and authenticity.
Neville Poole's passion lies in guiding change that leads to transformation, from strategy to implementation. She believes that collaboration, communication, and transparency are the keys to real change. It's all about building strong lasting relationships with team members, clients, and community leaders. Neville's expertise includes developing and implementing lean value based operating models, business process reinvention, and leading multicultural multi-generational teams across small, midsize and large complex organizations.
